Tall, nimble, and wise, elves dwell in forests and glades, and live for 500+ years. They are highly secretive, having largely withdrawn from society more than a millennia ago, and today keeping almost entirely to themselves - foregoing trade, and withholding secret the vast sums of knowledge they have uncovered over the epochs. Once, they were viewed by other races as god-like; now, few living beings have even laid eyes upon their gentle countenance.

History & Society
The oldest of all the sentient races, elves maintain that their spirits are the result of the Creator's first few breaths at the beginning of the universe, making them as ancient as the air itself. According to their account, in the earliest days of creation, elvenkind lived in peace with all beings. At length, evil entered the world, and the elves stood alone against it; so it was that the Creator made for them brothers in arms - humankind - to aid them in their battle against the wicked. Eventually, the two races triumphed and ruled the realm hand-in-hand, though a rift would ultimately divide their allegiance forever.
Today, elves are far removed from civilization. That is not to say, however, that they live in primitive conditions - the few outsiders who have gained access to their hidden citadels tell stories of towering crystal spires, gardens overfull with majestic blossoms and healing green, and rushing rivers and thundering waterfalls as far as the eye can see.
Playing an Elf
Despite their tendency to be withdrawn - even antisocial - elves make excellent adventurers due to their intelligent and inquisitive nature: the motivating force behind their many legendary exploits. Being both strong and wise, they are well-suited to any class, but are inclined to knowledge classes, such as druids and wizards. In these roles, they are like to seek staffs and wands to augment their magical powers, though they do possess a penchant for finely-crafted bladed weapons as well.
